Barbara Ruth Lynch Frost

December 7, 1935 — January 12, 2021

Barbara Ruth Lynch Frost, born in Franklin, TN December 7, 1935, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN after a 5-week brave battle with COVID-19. She inspired so many as she fought this dreaded disease and seemed to be on her way back. Everyone said it was a miracle, her story was followed by thousands on social media around the country and beyond and she had thousands praying for her. But she had been through so much, her body just gave out.

She is preceded in death by her father, Leo Lynch, Franklin, TN: mother, Fannie S. Lynch, Franklin, TN: sisters, Mary Lynch Jarvis, Nashville, TN and Frances Lynch Goodwin, Nashville, TN.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, C. Donald Frost, Hendersonville, TN; daughter, Donna Ruth Frost, Hendersonville, TN; 2 sons, Robert Andrew Frost, Hendersonville, TN and John Anthony Frost, Gallatin, TN; 4 grandchildren, Jett Anthony Frost, Gallatin, TN, Piper Olivia Frost, Hendersonville, TN, Leo Stephen Frost, Hendersonville, TN and Blade Jarvis Frost, Gallatin, TN; brother, Robert S. Lynch (and wife Elizabeth) Denton, MD; our longtime friend, Randy L. Ford, Nashville, TN; Alyssa Podany, Gallatin, TN; Dawn Drefhall Frost, Hendersonville, TN, Julie Geller Frost, Gallatin, TN, Ashley Ziegler Frost, Hendersonville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends, all who called her Mama Frost, she was everybody's mama! Also devoted granny to our dog Eddie and cat Sabrina.

Mom graduated from Franklin High School in 1954. Through the years she worked for Harpeth National Bank, Lasko Metal Products and CPS, then worked side by side with her husband Don in his business endeavors including the past 25 years assisting with production of his gospel tv show, Music City Gospel Showcase. Her love for gospel music came naturally as her family sang in churches and conventions, The Stephens Quartet. She and her sister Mary performed as a duo until she met her future husband Don at a gospel singing. His family were singing on the same circuits as well, The Frost Brothers Quartet. Both families had been longtime friends for many years. Mom and Dad and Aunt Mary Jarvis, and Uncles Carl and Alvin Frost formed the Frost Juniors Quartet and were popular singing in the area and on the road too. After the kids came along and Dad and his brothers formed all male quartet, Mom was busy working and taking care of 3 kids, getting us all to 3 different schools and activities, plus coming home and cooking dinners and getting us ready for another day. Mom still sang at our church, Franklin Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Franklin, TN where she was a member all of her life. She had the most beautiful voice of us all. She also prepared our church bulletins each week for many years and she had quite a ministry sending cards for so many years to family and friends everywhere for every occasion. She had a true caring heart and genuinely loved people. Her cards have touched many lives through the years. She was always so supportive of her kids' musical endeavors; she would come to some of our shows through the years. She was very doting and supportive of her 4 grandchildren and all their activities through the years, she and Dad attended so many. Mom was an amazing cook, especially her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners! She was the heart and soul, the rock of our family. The one who took care of us all. She was the one you could go to with any problem and she would listen, and give you the best advice and unconditional love. We are lost without her but we know she is in a better place and will be waiting for us.
