Johanna (Jana) Elizabeth Barendse, 59, passed away at her home in Hendersonville, TN on September 18, 2021 surrounded by her husband, daughter and sister. Jana was born August 28, 1962 in Lady Grey, South Africa. She is preceded in death by her parents Jacobus (Koos) Paulus Nel and Jacoba (Koba) Elizabeth Stella Nel. She is survived by her husband Andre (Doc) Paul Barendse, daughter Angie Barendse Cook and sister Hendrika (Rika) Christiana Terblanche.

Jana studied nursing at S.G. Lourens College of Nursing in South Africa and was a registered nurse for 36 years. Jana married her husband Doc on Dec 8, 1984 and had one child, Angie, who is expecting their first grandchild in early 2022. Jana attended Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville, TN. Jana’s joys in life include her family, her love for plants and animals (especially dogs), and traveling. Jana touched the lives of many and is loved by many friends around the world. Jana has a giving and nurturing soul who will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 1. 2021 at 11:00 A.M. from Christ Church Cathedral, 900 Broadway, Nashville, TN. 37203. Services will be live streamed on Christ Church Cathedral Facebook page.

Services have been entrusted to Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hendersonville. 615-822-4442.
