Katherine Mcwhirter Oldham

Katherine McWhirter Oldham, 93, of Gallatin, TN passed away Saturday August 15, 2020.
Katherine was one of the most intelligent, kind, loving, caring and giving persons anyone would ever meet. She grew up in Bethpage, TN and graduated in 1944 from Gallatin High School. Katherine was a hardworking person as well. She was one of the first employees, working in the office for DOT Records at the historical Randy’s Record Shop. Katherine later went on to work in the office at the Stockyard in Gallatin. After that, she worked many years until she retired from Brooks Rental Company. After retirement, Katherine volunteered at Sumner Regional Medical Center. She also continued to work part time at Vol State well into her 80s.
Katherine enjoyed the outdoors, exercising, cooking and spending time with family.
Katherine was born September 17, 1926 in Bethpage to the late William Albert McWhirter and Willie Ethel Mathews McWhirter. She was married to the late Lewis Martin Oldham. She is preceded in death by a brother, Grover McWhirter. Katherine is survived by sons, John (Shirley) Oldham of Gallatin, Scott (Stacy) Oldham of Gallatin; and a daughter, Peggy (Paul) Sanders of Castalian Springs. She was survived by grandchildren, Eddie (Laura) Oldham of Great Falls, North Dakota, Steven (Niki) Oldham of Castalian Springs, Shelby Groves, Bradley Oldham and Jordan Oldham all of Gallatin. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Emily, Michael, Nathan, Andrew, and Benjamin Oldham of North Dakota, Callie Beth, Carsen and Camden Oldham of Castalian Springs and Jaiden Deaton and Paelynn Maddex of Gallatin.
A Celebration of Katherine’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 19th at 12:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church Gallatin, 205 E. Main Street. Interment will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Masks will be required at the church and social distancing will be observed.
