Kathryn "Kathy" Faye May Wright

November 25, 1934 — April 3, 2022

Kathryn “Kathy” Faye May Wright was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She went to heaven on April 3, 2022, at the age of 87.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Wright in 1971. Also preceding her in death are parents, Orlan Curtis May and Kathryn Nellie V Chambers May, and brother Orlan Phillip May.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Kay Todd (Clifford – deceased) of Fayetteville, AR, Donna Faye Raley (Bruce) of Gallatin, TN, and Rebecca Sue Hill (Dan) of Green River, WY. She is also survived by grandchildren: Rachel Todd, Patrick Raley (Rachel), Sarah Raley Doll (Stephen), Bethany Hill Ward (Adam), Zachary Hill, and Jeremy Hill. She had two great-grandchildren that she absolutely adored and they adored her, Anna Kate Doll and Caleb Doll.
After graduating high school, she went to the Arkansas State Teachers College where she met the love of her life, Donald.
Kathy and Donald were appointed as missionaries by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to be missionaries in Southeast Alaska. They planted a church, First Baptist Church Petersburg. She was instrumental in church work in Alaska and taught ESL, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and other classes. She was also the pianist for the church. They served in Alaska for eight years.
After the loss of her husband, she moved her family to Fordyce, Arkansas. There she became very involved in church work once again. She taught Music Makers, Girl’s in Action, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School. She also sang in the choir and was an active member of the WMU.
She was a librarian at the Dallas County Library for 40+ years in Fordyce, Arkansas. There, she started a Story Hour Program for the children. Her love of books was contagious and she developed children’s reading programs.
She also taught piano lessons in her home. She was an avid music lover and loved all different genres of music.
She loved genealogy and was an active member of the Chicot Trace Chapter of the NSDAR. She was Regent for several years. She was also an active member of the Colonial Dames. She was State Chaplain in 2015-2017.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, Tennessee in the Chapel on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. A private burial will precede the Celebration of Life Service at Beech Cemetery in Hendersonville.
