Noel was born in Fort Myers, Florida on May 8, 1938 to Merle and Maurice Loper. He graduated from East High School in Nashville, Tennessee and continued his studies at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee where he received a bachelor of science degree in economics. Noel was united in holy matrimony to Barbara Chandler on June 19, 1960. They were happily married for 61 years and raised three daughters. Noel had a successful career as Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer for First American National Bank. He was a member of the Hendersonville Exchange Club where he served as president for two years, president of the Belmont Alumni, deacon at Hendersonville Baptist Church and deacon at Long Hollow Baptist Church. As an ordained minister, Noel loved Jesus and the local church serving in a wide range of roles including Sunday School teacher, deacon, and drama team leader. Noel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger and was a friend to anyone he crossed paths with. He loved making people laugh. He was loved by many, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. And while we will all miss his amazing joy, and corny dad jokes, we are all so happy knowing he is running and walking all over Heaven now, and reunited with his youngest daughter Allison, brother, and parents.
Noel is preceded in death by father, Maurice Loper; mother, Merle Loper, brother, James L. Loper Sr., and daughter, Allison Loper. Noel is survived by his devoted spouse, Barbara Chandler Loper; children, Michelle Loper Freudenthal (Bob) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Jennifer Loper Hunnicutt (Joey) of Melborne Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Bobby Freudenthal, Jr., Jonathan Freudenthal, Kristin Freudenthal, Sydney Hobbs, and Cody Hunnicutt; four great grandchildren, Shianne Snow, Jonathan Freudenthal, Jr., Bobby Freudenthal, III, and Madison Freudenthal; three brothers-in-law, Dorsey Chandler, William Chandler, and Donald Chandler, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Here's what one of his grandsons said about him, “Pop was an amazing man with a huge heart. Through the decades long battle with MS he never surrendered. He was a warrior. Even in the hardest of times he always found a way to make you laugh. He truly was a special man that I deeply admired.”
