Mr. William Fred "Bill" Lamb

William Fred “Bill” Lamb, age 82 of Portland, passed away May 16, 2020. Bill was born on January 15, 1938 in Rutherford County, TN to the late Aubrey Lee Lamb and the Late Laurel Bell Morris Lamb. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army, retiring with 23 years of service at the rank of Master Sergeant and received the Bronze Star Medal, he was also a proud Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed NASCAR, loved to be outside, drink lots of coffee, and keep the vehicles and yard clean. He loved to spend time with his companion, Hobo. He was a wonderful husband; he loved his kids and his family. Bill was a member of Fountain Head Church of Christ. When asked to describe Bill, his wife Linda said this, “Bill is the love of my life, he was a wonderful husband to me, always took care of me, and I knew he loved me. Words cannot express what he meant to me and we had 34 wonderful years together.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Addie Lamb Myers, Dorothy Lamb Rounsville, Martha Lamb Williams, and Ada Mai Lamb Covington; and brothers, Sam Lamb, John Irving Lamb and Larry Lamb. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda McKelvey Lamb; children, Leisa Lamb Allen (David) of Shelbyville, Mark Lamb (Kimberly) of Brentwood, Freda Lamb of Shelbyville, and Devon Dojet of Biloxi, MS; grandchildren, LaDona Childress (Aaron), Josh Woodson (Zoila), Leanne Maxey (Matt), and Maddox Lamb; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Bill will be laid to rest at a later date in Nashville National Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
