Bart Pickens, Sr., age 64 of Hendersonville, passed away November 7, 2025. Born on April 26, 1961, in Metairie, Louisiana, Bart dedicated over 40 years of his life to the culinary arts, with his most recent position at Party Fowl in Nashville being the highlight of his career. His time there was marked by joy, creativity, and the forging of lasting relationships, making it a period Bart referred to as "the best years of his life" before retiring.
Known for his large personality and infectious sense of humor, Bart was a favorite among his peers and patrons alike. He was not only a talented chef but also a great teacher and mentor to many who sought his guidance in the culinary field. Bart’s passion for cooking was only surpassed by his ability to connect with others, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Beyond the kitchen, Bart enjoyed spending time off shore fishing, finding solace and adventure in the waters that surrounded him. His zest for life was evident in all his pursuits, as he embraced each moment with enthusiasm and laughter.
Bart is survived by his loving wife, Patti Rowe-Pickens, and their children, Ernest Barton "Bubba" Pickens, Jr. (Heather) and Kelsey Jackson Young (Skyler). He also leaves behind adoring grandchildren, Amora and Parklyn Pickens; siblings, Rick Pickens (Shannon) and Cecil Pickens (Tanya); and his devoted dog, Agador Spartacus. In addition, Bart held a special place in his heart for his colleagues at Party Fowl, whom he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rick and Shaba Pickens. Bart’s legacy will continue through his family, friends, and the numerous lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
