Betty Nell Draughon-Simpson

Betty Nell Draughon Simpson, age 75, of Portland, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was a kind and precious soul who loved big. Her family was her heart. 

Betty was born on February 27,1949 in Robertson County. She graduated from East Robertson High School. Betty was employed by Kendall Company in Franklin, Kentucky for almost 30 years before retiring. After retirement, she and Dorcy, her husband of 47 years, enjoyed camping and visiting the Amish country up north in their motor home. Betty was a courageous warrior in her fight against cancer for many years and she never complained. Dorcy was her loving and devoted caregiver until the end. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

Betty is survived by her husband, Dorcy Simpson of Portland; sons, Scott (Mechele) Dillard of Portland, Michael Simpson of Franklin, Kentucky and Rodney (Trish) Simpson of Millersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Lauren Dillard of Bethpage, Amber (Scott) Cline and Keri Simpson both of Franklin, Kentucky, Ella (Camaron) Myers of Yuma, Arizona, Katelyn (Michael) Edgin and Riley Graham (Mayleigh Douglas), both of Portland; great-grandchildren, Marlee Cline, Daxton Cline, Lainey Kate Edgin and Weston Edgin; sisters,  Brenda (Jerry) McCreary of Springfield and Pat Mobley of Columbus, Georgia; brothers, Larry (Maria) Draughon of Lancaster, SC, and Robert (Wanda) Draughon of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. 

The family has chosen cremation. No services are planned.
