Betty Jean Liles

Betty Jean Liles, age 90 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2026 surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Portland, Tennessee on July 20, 1935 to the late Bessie and Lawrence McMurtry. 

She is survived by her five children, Darlene Long, Curtis Mize, Richard Mize, Robin Templeton, and Rita York; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; her brother, Billy McMurtry; and several nieces and nephews. 

Betty was a hardworking woman who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed bluegrass music and loved her cats and dogs. Betty would help anyone and will be truly missed. 

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. Interment will follow in Beech Cemetery with Justin York, Josh York, Aaron Mize, Jesse Shephard, Tristan Kilmon, and Paul Hayes serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.
