Carl Summers, age 87 of Hendersonville, passed away August 2, 2023. Carl was born on August 22, 1935 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to the late Carl and Elsie Summers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Doral Summers.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Karen Summers (Scott Southall) and Shannon Summers; brother-in-law, Eddie Jones (Nancy); and his Summers cousins. He was graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla, a Chemical Engineer specializing in plastic manufacturing, was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and enjoyed big band music and traveling.

 Carl and Doral were proud band parents and supporters of the Hendersonville High School Band of Gold and a founder of the Hendersonville Golden Invitational Marching Band Contest. After retirement, Carl was a longtime volunteer at the Hendersonville Public Library where he shelved over a million books.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hendersonville Library Friends, PO Box 906, Hendersonville, TN 37077-0906.
