Carlos Chester "Skip" Trask, III

December 7, 1931 — January 22, 2024

Hendersonville, Tennessee

Carlos Chester “Skip” Trask, III, age 92 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 after a brief illness.

Skip had a date with the love of his life, Nancy. Mind you the date wasn’t etched in stone, at least not yet but he wouldn’t have missed it for the world. On January 22, 2024, Skip met Nancy for their pre-arranged date. I'm sure she had the table set, Fox News on and his tools laid out for him.

Skip was born Carlos Chester Trask, III on December 7, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Carlos C. Trask, Jr. and the late Myrth Sanders Trask. In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nancy; his son, Mark Trask; brothers-in-law, Bob Williams and Shel Fellman; and nephew, Greg Williams.

He is survived by his children, Carlos C. “Skipper” Trask, IV (Paulette), Cheryl Trask Byerly, Terry McCormack Gravely (Walter), Michelle Trask Allan (Bruce), and Tim McCormack (Cyndi); his 12 grandchildren, Shannon, Colleen. Shane, Jacquelyn,  Kristin, John, Jen,  Adam, Danielle, Jennifer, Shanna and Keelia; his 15 great-grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Veloria, Colton, Weston, Edith, Jack, Emma, Leah, Kaylyn, Reed, Grant, Tristan, Harper, and Olivia; his sisters, Phyllis Williams and Sandy Fellman; nieces, Debbie Nash (Randy) and Carrie Heaton; nephews, Bobby Williams (Donna), Doug Williams, and Chris Heaton (Janet); and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Skip did more in his 92 years that most people only dream of accomplishing.  He had 2 wives, but Nancy was THE one. He had 4 +2 children, but they were ALL his children.  He joined the Air Force, stationed in Alaska, a Russian linguist during the Korean War. He was a police officer in Detroit while attending Wayne State, graduating with a law degree.  A life of relaxed retirement wasn't in his vocabulary.  Skip loved remodeling, loved the newest and best tools and loved to see pictures of his kid’s projects when he could no longer participate. His life slowed down after Nancy died in 2020, but he was still traveling, making a trip to Michigan to see Skipper and Cheryl, a trip to Florida visiting Michelle, fishing off the Cedar Key gulf coast, driving to Tim's in East Tennessee, and Terry’s in North Carolina just months before he took ill. It’s hard to come back from a stroke, though he tried. Time and age were not on his side this time.  He is loved by his family, this he knows. But those legal scales came back to weigh one last thing. The weight of one’s love. - While we love him unconditionally as our dad, papa, brother, uncle or friend, Nancy loved him with her being.
