Cynthia Manning Wheeler, known affectionately to many as Cindy, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Nashville, TN. Born on September 26, 1963, in Albuquerque, NM, Cindy lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Cindy was a beloved member of her community, dedicating twenty-three years of her career to Walton Ferry Elementary. Her role there was much more than a job; it was a calling. She worked selflessly with children, often going beyond the call of duty by providing care and support to those in need, at times even bringing children into her home to ensure their safety and well-being. Her caring nature and dependability left a lasting impact on countless lives, making her influence undeniable and deeply cherished.
Known for her warm and welcoming personality, Cindy treasured her family and friends. She embraced life fully, with one of her greatest joys being the time spent traveling alongside those closest to her. She delighted in planning trips, often finding as much pleasure in the anticipation and preparation as in the travels themselves. The beach held a special place in her heart, a sanctuary where she found peace and happiness.
Cindy faced great challenges with remarkable strength, bravely fighting two different types of cancer. Her courage during these trials was a testament to the resilience and spirit she maintained throughout her life.
She is dearly survived by her devoted husband, Steve Wheeler; cherished sons, Steven Wheeler and Jacob Wheeler; daughters-in-law, Lindsay Wheeler and Jordan Wheeler; her beloved grandchildren, Jameson Wheeler, Grant Wheeler, and Tatum Wheeler, her mother Pat Walker, her step-mother Judy Manning and her two sisters, Jana Manning Word and Ainsley Manning. These loved ones carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and dependable support. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, James Manning.
Cynthia Manning Wheeler's life was a beacon of warmth and kindness. Her impact, especially through her work with children and the depth of her love and care for her family and friends, will continue to be remembered and honored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a timeless example of grace, strength, and heartfelt devotion.
