Gallatin, Tennessee

Daniel A. "Danny" Ellis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away on April 28, 2025, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born on September 9, 1972, in Madison, Tennessee, Danny made a lasting impact on all who knew him throughout his life.

After graduating from Wurzburg American High School in Germany, Danny pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University, a foundation that led to a fulfilling career with the Hendersonville Police Department. For over 25 years, he committed his life to serving the community, spending most of his time in the Patrol Division and also contributing to Boat Patrol. Danny's dedication to his work exemplified his strong sense of duty and care for others.

Danny was known for his loving, outgoing personality and was often described as a jokester with a kind and gentle spirit. He cherished his role as a great husband to his wife, Rebecca Ellis, with whom he shared 25 wonderful years. His legacy as a devoted father is reflected in the lives of his children, Olivia Ellis and Derrick Jones (Lauren), and he took great pride in being a grandfather. The joy in his heart was evident as his grandsons, Logan and Liam Jones, lovingly referred to him as "Grampy."

In addition to his family life, Danny enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought him happiness. He had a passion for playing guitar, working out, running, engaging in fantasy football, and belting out tunes during karaoke sessions. His zest for life and ability to bring people together will be fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of sharing moments with him.

Danny is survived by his parents, Terry Burnett (Don) and Dan Ellis (Ann); his grandmother, Helen Ruth Bagwell; sister, Angela Ellis Smart (Shannon); niece, Blair McCloud (Greg); nephew, Beau Smart; great-nephew, Declan McCloud; cousin, Brandy Lux (Jace) and their children, Colton and Connor Lux; aunt, Jan West; uncles, Butch West and Michael Ellis; and sister-in-law, Brittany Wooldridge (Jimmy); niece, Ainsley Wooldridge.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Mary McDaniel; his aunt, Brenda Hudgins; mother-in-law, Mary Hagewood (Daniel Smith); and father-in-law, Owen Parker, Jr.
