David Everett Preston, 59, of Gallatin, Tennessee, left our earthly world peacefully at his home on June 3, 2025. Born June 17, 1965, to the late Bill and Kathryn “Katie” Preston, he was a beloved son, brother, and friend to many.
After the tragic loss of his father when he was only six years old, David was lovingly raised by his devoted mother, Katie, whom he cherished deeply. He is survived by his brother, Jeff Preston, also of Gallatin.
Known affectionately as “Quail” to his lifelong band of brothers, David was passionate about music, perfectly timed jokes, and his beloved Cincinnati Bengals and Reds. His quick wit, sly smile, and uncanny gift for forming instant friendships—even with total strangers—made him unforgettable. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, often at the most unexpected or awkward times, and it became one of his most enduring trademarks.
David will be interred alongside his parents at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 16, 2025, at Crestview Memorial Gardens. A celebration of his life will follow at 5:30 P.M. at the Gallatin Country Club. Friends are invited to raise a glass, share a story (even the inappropriate ones—he would’ve loved that), tell a joke, and enjoy the music he loved most.
We’ll miss your laughter, your music, your unfiltered truth—but most of all, your presence. We love you, Quail—and we’ll see you on the other side
