With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donald Veltman Wiseman who peacefully departed this life on May 30, 2026, at the age of 82.

A proud American patriot, Don dedicated 23 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant (1SG). He led with strength, integrity, and quiet confidence, earning the respect of those who served alongside him. His military service was one of his proudest accomplishments and reflected his lifelong commitment to duty, honor, and family.

Outside of his military career, he found joy on the golf course. He loved the game and was exceptionally good at it, often spending time perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie the sport brought. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. His wisdom, steady presence, and calm demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Sylvia Cruz Wiseman; his parents, Doris Edward Wiseman and Mattie Kathrine Lewis Wiseman; his brothers, Robert, Curtis, and Danny Wiseman; and his sister, Kathy Wiseman Sloan.

He is survived by his sister, Sheila Wiseman Harrell. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Tina (Larry) Hawkins of Cross Plains, Tennessee; Janice (Ryan) Wiseman of White House, Tennessee; Ryan (Melissa) Wiseman of Houston, Texas; Donnie (Heather) Wiseman of Canyon City, Colorado; Tina (Walt) Wiseman Wells of El Paso, Texas.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Anthony & Hailey (Austin) Hodges; Natalee (Ray) Thompson; Abby and Paige Thomas; Ethan Hawkins; Christopher, Michael, and Jaden Wiseman; Shane and Dustin Wells.

As well as his treasured great-grandchildren: Marshall and Aubrey Hodges; Kaden and Silas Denney; Atlas and Elias Williams; BlakeLeigh Thompson; Moses, Haydon, and Charli Wiseman; Elias, Miklo, and Luke Hernandez; Damian, Harlow, Alaska, and Noah Wells.

His family was the pride of his life. He loved them deeply and took great joy in watching his family grow through the generations. His legacy lives on in each of them through the values he instilled, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his life was one of purpose, service, and devotion. He will be remembered as a soldier, a leader, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and a friend whose influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

“A life lived with honor leaves a legacy that never fades.”

The family will gather privately to celebrate his life at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sumner Funeral and Cremation, 615-452-9059.
