Esther Olutoyin Odunusi, Nee Onoyungbo was born in Lagos, Nigeria to Mr. E.S.A. Onoyoungbo and Mrs. Regina Modupe Onoyungbo. She attended Methodist Primary School, Surulere and completed her secondary school education at Girls’ Secondary Grammar School, Bariga-Lagos. She proceeded to complete her nursing program at Lagos State School of Nursing, Ikoyi-Lagos. She completed her BSN and MSN programs at Tennessee State University, Nashville TN.

Esther was a devout member of the Indian Lake Peninsula Church and involved in various programs and activities at the church. She was a past president and an active member and supporter of both the Yoruba Descendant of Middle TN and Egbe Omo Yoruba National Association. She served as the chapter’s president from 2003-2008. She was a member of The American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Tennessee Nursing Association, International Friends of Tennessee, Macon County Nurse Practitioner Organization, Golden Key International Honor Society and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Esther was a woman of deep faith, whose relationship with God was a foundation of her life. She trusted in His promises, carried her faith with quiet strength, and found comfort and purpose in prayer. Her love for God was reflected in the way she treated others- with kindness, compassion, generosity and grace.

She was also a woman of elegance and style. She took pride in her appearance and had a natural sense of fashion that made her stand out wherever she went. Always beautifully dressed and impeccably presented. She carried herself with confidence and dignity. Her style was more than what she wore, it reflected her personality, strength and vibrant spirit.

Above all, family was her greatest treasure. She loved her family deeply and wholeheartedly. She cherished every moment spent with her children, relatives and close friends. She was always ready to offer encouragement, wisdom, laughter and support. Those who knew her will remember her beautiful spirit, her unwavering faith, her sophisticated style, her strength and her love for her family. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the values she instilled in those she loved.

She was survived by Dr. Olufemi Odunus (husband), Oluyemi Odunusi, Oluwole Odunusi and Olufemi Modupeore Odunusi (children) Cecilly Odunusi, Gideon Odunusi and Ayomide Odunusi (grandchildren). Her siblings are Ayodeji Akibo, Olanrewaju Onoyungbo, Omolara Asaolu, Abosede Osijo and Olusola Mamah.

Esther Olutoyin Odunusi was also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.
