Frederick Joe “Fred” Duffer, Sr. passed away on August 30, 2025, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, at the age of 70. Born on January 29, 1955, in Scottsville, Kentucky, Fred spent his formative years in California and Arkansas. It was in this nurturing environment that he met the love of his life, Laura Ann Duffer, with whom he shared over 50 years of partnership.
Fred and Laura dedicated the majority of their lives to each other and their family while residing in Malden, Missouri, before relocating to Gallatin, Tennessee, in 2010 to care for his beloved mother. His commitment to family was unwavering; he cherished moments spent on the lake with his children and grandchildren, reveling in the joy they brought to his life.
A man of service, Fred dedicated four years to the United States Air Force. He was proud to connect with fellow veterans as a member of the American Legion. His faith also played a significant role in his life as he regularly attended the First Presbyterian Church in Gallatin, Tennessee, contributing to his community with a spirit of generosity and kindness.
Fred's interests extended beyond family; he was an avid golfer who found happiness in the company of friends on the green.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Ann Duffer; two sons, Shawn Harold Duffer and Frederick Joe Duffer Jr. (Amy); two granddaughters, Addison and Chloe; two grandsons, Brandon and Hayden; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ellen Duffer. He leaves behind many other family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Harold E. Duffer; his mother, Mary Fay Duffer (Mahew); and his brother, Wayne Duffer. His legacy of love and commitment to family will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
