James Milton Walker, Jr.

March 22, 1949 — July 13, 2023

Hermitage, Tennessee

James Milton Walker, Jr., (74), of Hermitage, TN, passed away on July 13, 2023.

James, fondly known as Jimmy, Dad, and PaPaw, was born to James and Effie (Mikell) Walker, on March 22, 1949, in Silver City, Mississippi. After graduation from university, he worked in everything from NASA to acting as an extra in several television series. As an avid music lover, he spent time playing guitar along with other various instruments, writing song lyrics, and attending shows performed by his abundance of musically talented friends. Jimmy enjoyed almost every genre of music and was especially fond of bluegrass, country, old R&B, and of course Elvis.

Jimmy was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and would share their accomplishments with exuberant love any chance he was given. He never met a stranger and made friends with anyone he encountered. Jimmy was the most stubborn and loving human any individual had the privilege to know and we all love him for it. He did things his way and lived an amazing, adventure filled life.

Jimmy is survived by his brother Johnny (Jeanie) Walker; four children Danny (Margaret) Walker of Collierville, TN, Scarlett (Scott) Hinkle of Greer, SC, Josh (Stacy) Walker of Cottontown, TN, and Adam (Kate) Walker of Hendersonville, TN; eight grandchildren Jeremy Walker, Channing (Megan) Myers, Leslie Myers, Carson Oswalt, Riley Walker, Tristan Winters, Zoe Walker, and Addison Walker; and four great-grandchildren Adelynn, Kirkland, Maverick, and Aubreigh. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Effie.
