Jerry Alexander Burnette

Jerry Alexander Burnette, age 82 of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully December 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Earl Burnette of Duncan, SC.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail Ingle Burnette; children, Jennifer Steinle (Preston) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Dr. Jeff Burnette (Heather) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Sarah, Lily, and Ben Burnette of Charleston, SC, Owen, Bergan and Sloane Steinle of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Janice and Dr. John Paul Hendrix of Kinston, NC; and brother, Larry Burnette (Dee) of Duncan, SC.

Jerry especially enjoyed the children’s friends coming to visit in growing up years, calling the boys “Buddy Boys”! Jerry finished his master’s degree from UT Knoxville and taught in a Jr College in North Carolina. He went to work in 1970 for Ciba-Geigy Chemical Corporation. He loved his work and made many good friends through out the country. Jerry loved the great outdoors from gardening to duck hunting and fishing in younger years to just watching in later years.

Jerry was especially proud of all 6 grandchildren accepting Christ and being baptized. He was a kind, fun-loving man who loved the Lord, family and Mike Brown and Richard Gaia’s Sunday School Class.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel at First Baptist Church Hendersonville with Rev. Richard Gaia officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
