John Edward Diewald, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished Opa, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Hendersonville, TN, after a courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease. Born on March 18, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA, John's life was marked by a spirit of adventure and an unwavering love for his family.

John's career in manufacturing took him to new locations, allowing him the opportunity to create countless memories with his family in Colorado, Virginia, and Tennessee. His work at General Electric, Schlage Lock, and Ingersoll Rand provided John and his family the opportunity to explore the beauty of the United States together, with special memories of outdoor camping trips and visits to National Parks. Upon retirement, John and Donna bought an RV and ran to Yellowstone National Park where they spent 6 months welcoming campers to his favorite place on earth.

He was a proud alumnus of Gannon University in Erie, PA, where he earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and MBA. Balancing his studies as a young father while working at General Electric brought its challenges, but the family often joked that his degree was just as much his wife's achievement, reflecting the couple's commitment and teamwork.

Throughout his life, John was known for his steady demeanor, warmth, and a sense of humor that could brighten the darkest days. He had a knack for dad jokes that brought laughter and groans into the lives of those around him. His genuine smile had a remarkable ability to put others at ease, making him a comforting presence in any setting.

John's love for Christmas was unparalleled; the holiday season brought him immense joy, filled with cherished family time, decorations, and twinkling lights. He especially loved sharing his model train hobby with his grandchildren, a passion that became a delightful tradition for the family. An ardent supporter of all Pittsburgh sports teams, he could be found cheering on the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates, celebrating their victories and yelling at the tv through their defeats!

Above all, John took pride in his children—Keli, Scott, and Karyn—and his grandchildren—Lilly, Katelyn, and Sarah. His greatest accomplishments centered around the life he built with his beloved wife, Donna, over nearly 50 years of marriage. Their journey was filled with adventures, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that served as a model of love for their family.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; his children, Keli, Scott, and Karyn; his daughter-in-law, Deanna Diewald and son-in-law, Caleb Shoemake; his loving grandchildren, Lilly, Katelyn, and Sarah; and his siblings, Nancy Spriggs, Carol Bywaters, and Tim Diewald. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and J. Albert Diewald, his daughter, Kristen Diewald, and his brother-in-law, Larry Spriggs.

John’s legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will always shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us to enjoy life, cherish each moment, and never forget the importance of a good chuckle.
