John Franklin (Frank) Spickler passed away December 2, 2025. He was born October 24, 1946, to Charles Franklin and Kathleen Dodson Spickler in Harpers Ferry, WV, who preceded him in death, as did his brother Ralph Gardner Spickler. He is survived by the loves of his life, Sheila Dever Spickler, wife of 58 years; children Joshua Spickler (Ginger) and Ginger Spickler; grandchildren Walter Franklin and Patrick Stephen Spickler and Macy Spain Elams; sister Margaret Ann Fleener; and several nieces and nephews; as well as others he referred to as “my kids” because he loved them immensely!
He considered it a privilege to serve his country in the U.S. Army from March 1964-March 1970, serving with 11th Air Assault, 1st of 8th Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division. At the end of his service he was a drill sergeant in the 3rd Army at Ft. Campbell, KY, after being removed from jump status due to wounds he received during the TET Offensive in February 1968 while serving his second tour of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the service, he started a career at Nashville Electric Service that lasted over 42 years, beginning as a laborer and retiring as a respected field supervisor.
