Joseph John Selner, Jr.

Joseph John Selner, Jr., age 89, passed away March 15, 2025, at Stone Creek Memory Care in Hendersonville, TN.

Mr. Selner was born on January 25, 1936, in Ashland, Wisconsin to the late Joseph John Selner, Sr. and Anna Selner. He is the brother of three sisters JoAnn and Geraldine, both (deceased), and Donna; and a brother Richard (deceased).

He was a 1955 graduate of De Padua High School in Ashland County, WI and later in 1977 earned his Associates of Science Degree in Fire Science. 

 Mr. Selner earned his Private Pilot’s Certificate in 1970 and his Commercial, Multi-Engine, Instrument rating in 1972. He was an avid aviation enthusiast and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was also the Chapter President of the Marshfield EAA Chapter 733, “Cloud Busters” from 1982 - 1983. 

He was employed by the City of Marshfield Wisconsin Fire Department from 1970 - 1983 where he was President of the Local 1021 International Association of Firefighters for an extensive period. For several years he and his beloved Jackie of 65 years enjoyed a cabin on Spirit Lake in Wisconsin. 

Together they had three children: Joseph, Sandi, and James. He has six grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held 1:30 P.M., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
