Karen Ann Hinman of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 64 years old. Born on February 8, 1961, to Florence and Walter Cardoza in Miami, Florida, Karen was baptized at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Miami, Florida. Her faith would continue to be a cornerstone of her life, particularly the ideal of being of service to others and importance of family.
Karen obtained her high school diploma from Southwest Miami High School in Miami, Florida and went on to obtain a professional realtor’s license. For over twenty five years, Karen was an accomplished realtor that obtained multiple graduate level certifications including: Graduate Realtor’s Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Seller Representative Specialist (SRS), and At Home with Diversity (AHWD). In her real estate business she was cherished by her clients for being a firm advocate and helping new homebuyers in particular secure their first home.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of over forty years, Donald Hinman; and her children, Bryan, Shane, and Andrew Hinman. She is also survived by many beloved cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Walter.
Karen will be remembered for her love towards others, her family, and to animals. She was a fierce advocate for many and had a remarkable ability to make new friends wherever she went. She was a steady source of comfort and a voice of guidance to all who knew her. Her advice always had the right amount of honesty and humor needed for the situation. Karen’s love was her legacy, and it lives on in every life she touched.
A service honoring her life will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7th at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Volunteer State Doberman Rescue, American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, or The Tennessee Kidney Foundation.
