Kathryn Hill Hastings

January 18, 1977 — January 17, 2020

Katie Hastings, age 42, departed this life on January 17, surrounded by her family and those who loved her. Her 43rd birthday was celebrated in Heaven on January 18th with our Lord.

Katie was born to Geraldine and Richard Hastings in Rochester, New York. She is survived by her brother, Clark Hastings, and his wife Catie, nephews Gavin and Lawson and many loving relatives in New York State.

Katie was a graduate of Hendersonville High School in 1995 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University in 2002. Throughout her adult years, she always worked in jobs that involved helping other people of various ages. She was most recently employed as the Dementia Practitioner and activities director at NHC Place Sumner, lovingly caring for residents in the memory care unit.

From childhood, Katie had a passion for art. She enjoyed reading, drawing, and most of all, spending time with family. She was devoted to her family, especially Gavin and Lawson. Friends and family will always remember her selflessness, loyalty, and compassion. Katie had a natural ability for supporting others and making everyone feel special. She touched the lives of so many people, yet remained so very humble.

The family would like to thank Dr. Laura Barnes, Dr. Alissa Swearingen, Dr. Raul Couret, and the many nurses and techs who cared for Katie with such love and kindness. Special thanks to NHC Place Sumner for providing a comforting, loving environment for Katie’s last days.
She will be missed and remembered by many.
