On March 19, 2026, Kim Alexander McAllister of Hendersonville passed away after a brief illness. Kim was born to Norman McAllister and Cristel Jornson in Saratoga Springs, NY on October 27, 1934, the eldest of five children. He was a 1952 graduate of Saratoga High School, where he played basketball, volleyball and was a standout varsity baseball player on the championship team of 1951. During high school Kim also worked as a stable handler at the Saratoga Race Track. 

After graduating from high school with Honors, Kim attended Clarkson College in Potsdam,NY and participated on the school’s baseball and ice speed skating teams. He also belonged to the academic fraternity of Theta Chi. In 1956 Kim earned a B.S in Chemical Engineering and soon accepted a position with the Firestone Tire Company in Akron Ohio,where he met his wife, Joyce. Shortly after their marriage, they relocated to West Haven,CT in 1958 and Kim accepted a position with the Armstrong Rubber Company. Kim and his wife Joyce lived in West Haven for the next 23 years, where they raised their five daughters, before relocating to Hendersonville, TN in 1981. While in Hendersonville, Kim worked for Pirelli Tire as a chemist until his retirement in 1993.

Mr. McAllister was an avid hockey fan of the New York Rangers, New Haven Nighthawks and The Nashville Predators. He also loved watching the Vanderbilt Women’s basketball team play. He played golf, and even shot a hole in one at Hendersonville’s Bluegrass Country Club. He loved to play bridge and visit with former coworkers at monthly Pirelli Tire breakfast get-togethers. 

Kim was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his parents, brothers Joel and Brian McAllister and sister Marjorie Jones. He is survived by his brother Neil McAllister (Judy),niece Jan Soron, daughters Romain Babcock (Reb), Carolyn Miller, Karen McAllister,Kathryn Rich (David), Terri McAllister (Kevin) and Mona Kelser (David), grandchildren Daniel Watts (Raquel), Victoria Sise, Sierra Russ and Luke Kelser, great granddaughter Annelise Taylor and numerous grand dogs/cats.
