Marlene Brumley Wood, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 83, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Born on February 10, 1942, in Donna, Texas, Marlene dedicated her life to service, faith, and family.
A proud graduate of El Segundo High School, Marlene excelled in her studies and received awards for her remarkable typing skills. She worked diligently as a typist and editor within the aerospace industry and also established her own successful typing and editing business. Marlene eventually retired as the office manager from Pilgrim Armenian Church in Fresno, California, where she was deeply involved in the church community.
Marlene's unwavering faith played a central role in her life. Always putting Jesus Christ first, she was known as an intercessory prayer warrior who frequently prayed for others. Her commitment to music and worship illuminated the lives of many around her; she loved to play worship music on her organ for hours, sharing her talent until her health would no longer allow it.
Her family meant everything to her, and she often encouraged those around her during challenging times, ministering to others in need. Marlene is survived by her children, Tammy Long (Chris), Brad Wood (Dawn), and Eric Wood (Claudia); step-children, Mike Wood (Marie) and Michelle Wood. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Christopher Long (Jennifer Robare), Tyler Long (Rachel), Kathleen Hahn (Jarred), Brandon Wood (Maranda), Brett Wood (Adrian), Bryan Wood (Mackenzie), and Jade Wood, as well as to 11 great-grandchildren. Marlene is also survived by her brothers, Wayland Brumley (Jeannie), Wes Brumley (Susan), and Jerry Brumley (Gayla).
Marlene was predeceased by her parents, Floyd Brumley and Viola Brumley, and her husband, Clarence Wood. Her compassionate spirit and devotion to her family and faith will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we gather our memories of Marlene, we celebrate the incredible woman she was and the loving legacy she leaves behind.
