Michael Lyle Koski passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
He was born March 7, 1950 in Oroville, California to parents Johan Walter and Zona Rhea Koski. He graduated from Las Plumas High School in 1968 and the University of California Berkeley in 1972.
Michael had a passion for building which led to a 56 year career in construction. His job created many opportunities for travel and the ability to live in many different places including New Mexico, Arizona, California, Hawaii, and finally settling in Tennessee where he finished his career by building the 5th + Broadway mixed use development in Nashville, TN.
It was during his time in New Mexico that he met the love of his life, Valarie. They were married on August 2, 1980. During their marriage, Michael and Valarie shared a love of Jesus that led them to be active members within the different churches they attended. Most notably, Michael served as a Deacon at the Tri-Valley Church of Christ (Livermore, CA) where he and his wife worshiped for 22 years. They then moved to Gallatin, TN where they became a part of the community at NorthField Church.
Michael loved spending time with his family, barbequing with friends, traveling, hunting and telling stories about his hunting adventures in Africa, Canada and all over the western United States.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Johan and Zona and his infant son, Michael Lyle Koski, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Valarie; children Amy (Jeremy) Russell of Antioch, CA, Jennifer (Derek) Gaumer of Gallatin, TN, Levi (Fashina) Koski of Hendersonville, TN, Jessi (Race) Jones of Phoenix, AZ and Jodi (Nate) Erion of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren Zoey, Dakota and Hannah; and his brother Rodney Koski of Elk Grove, CA and sister Kathy Martinez of Isleton, CA.
He will be greatly missed.
