Myrtle Marie Vanhooser

Myrtle Marie VanHooser, age 61 of Portland, TN, went to her heavenly home on March 29, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her love for life and family kept her going until the end. She was born September 10, 1964 to Homer Calvin Parker and Margaret Ray Parker in Lafayette, TN. 

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman Parker and Joe Calvin Parker; and sisters, Nettie Irene Bratten, Joyce Elain Davis, and Kathy Parker Nash. She is survived by her sons, Jonas Calvin Alford (Yamilka) of  Bowling Green, KY and Daniel Alford (Shana) of Savannah, TN; five precious grandchildren, Skyler, Harmony, Melody, Symphony and Zealand; brothers, Paul Parker (Marcie) of Portland, TN, Jimmy Parker of Portland, TN, and Jackie Parker (Tammy) of Westmoreland, TN; sister, Ethel Lackey (William) of Castilian Springs, TN; special friend and loved one, Alvin Alford of Portland, TN and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is planned for Friday, April 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the home of Jimmy Parker, 311 Tom Ferrell Rd., Portland, TN. All family and friends are invited to attend.
