Nita P. Allen, age 91 of Hendersonville, passed away September 25, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Nita was born on September 18, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee to the late John Thomas “J.T.” Prince and the late Bessie Green Prince.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Tyrone Allen; and siblings, Thomas Prince, Virginia Boshers, and Joan Sanders.

Nita is survived by her daughters, Melanie Allen Tummons (Mike) and Andrea Allen Haynes (Rick); grandchildren, Alex Tummons (Kaylan), Claire Tummons (Eric Wright), Hannah Rowlett (Ethan), Houston Haynes, and Harper Haynes; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Tummons; and her brother, John Prince.

Nita and her husband, Charles, moved to Hendersonville in 1961, where they raised their family and quickly became active members of the community. She was a longtime member of the Hendersonville Garden Club and a devoted 65-year member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she faithfully served her church in many ways, including through the Women’s Missionary Union, serving in the prayer room, teaching Vacation Bible School, and as a proud member of the Fred Bracey Connect Group.

Nita had a genuine heart for helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. She enjoyed spending time at her condo in Florida, cooking, playing golf, and fast walking. While she enjoyed many things throughout her life, her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She dearly loved her children, adored her grandchildren, and treasured her great-granddaughter.

Above all, Nita was a woman of deep faith. The way she lived her life reflected the advice she would give to others: lean on Jesus for strength and guidance through all of life’s seasons.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel at First Baptist Church Hendersonville with Dr. Bruce G. Chesser officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Backpack Ministry or the Levi Fund at First Baptist Church Hendersonville.
