Ona Mae Black Beisel age 84 of Gallatin, passed away December 19, 2023 at her home.
Ona was born on October 8, 1939 in New Hope, Alabama to the late Alvin Stewart and the late Nannie Pepper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Beisel; brothers, Edsel and Marvin Stewart; and her sisters, Mary Lemley and Betty Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Melanie Black, Mimi Mills, Michele Schmidt, Lisa Bolden, Glenda Woida; grandchildren, Indy Ginnings, David Schmidt, James Schmidt, Charity Schmidt, Rebekah Merrill, Heather Abner, Lexi Woida, Taylor Woida, Jonathan Bolden, Angela Sandlin, Kristine Mayes; a multitude of great-grandchildren; siblings, Jewel Doke, Edna Stewart, and Faye Moncini; and her special friend, Elane Hopkins.
Ona was born and raised in New Hope, Alabama where she graduated from New Hope High School. After graduating high school, she moved to Chicago, Illinois to start fresh; she worked for many years as the administrator for City College in Chicago until retirement. Ona was a strong woman of Christian faith, she was heavily involved in her church congregation, sang in the church choir, and read her bible daily; she was tenacious and strong willed; she enjoyed watching her favorite TV show, Chicago Fire; she will be remembered the most for her love of her family and her love of God.
