Phillis Marie McKinley, age 98 of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026. Phillis was born in 1927 in Peace River, Northern Alberta, Canada to a father who was a gold miner and a mother who was a cook. They moved to Penticton, British Columbia where they owned and worked on a farm and then onto Yellowknife, NWT where they ran The Wild Cat Café. When Phillis was 12, she and her friend, Bertha, started a Water Taxi, transporting people from one side of the city to the other.

Her family moved to Vancouver, British Colombia where her dad became a fisherman and Phillis became a switch Board Operator and met Jim. They were married in Vancouver on June 8th, 1946. They then moved to San Jose followed by San Francisco where they owned and operated multiple pizza parlors. After moving to San Diego, they had Debbie their only child, in 1960. Jim and Phillis owned multiple hotels, bars, and restaurants in Portland, Oregon.

Phillis and Jim enjoyed traveling, camping and trips to Las Vegas. They finally landed in Gallatin, Tennessee with family, where both Jim and Phillis lived out their lives. Phillis was an avid walker and loved playing cards with her friends.

Phillis was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Marie Daigle; husband, James McKinley; and siblings, Phil Daigle and Geraldine Daigle.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Linville (Ronnie); grandchildren, Austin Linville (Brianna) and Alicia Enochs (Will); great-grandchildren: Camden Enochs, Owen Enochs, Griffin Enochs.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a visitation on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside.
