Richard Earl Barnes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 8, 2025 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Born on January 12, 1930, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Richard lived a life rich in love, laughter, and service to others.

A graduate of Lynn High School in Lynn, MA, Richard pursued further education at dental technician school, eventually establishing a successful career as a self-employed dental technician, a role he cherished for 40 years. His dedication to his craft earned him respect within his community, where he was known as a skilled professional and a caring individual.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Richard proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve for eight years, reflecting his commitment to his country. He was a person of many interests, a longtime Harley-Davidson owner who enjoyed motorcycles, and a talented musician who played various instruments and sang. His curiosity and zest for life drove him to explore new hobbies, finding joy in the process of learning and trying new things.

Richard had a very tender heart; he loved to laugh and make people laugh, earning him the affection of friends across all ages. His warm spirit resonated with those who knew him, and he was particularly devoted to his church community. For 50 years while living in California, he sang in the choir, sharing his musical talents and passion for worship. After moving to Tennessee, he became a cherished member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gloria Barnes; their children, David Barnes and Judy Porter (Monte); grandchildren, Jason Porter (Miranda), Steven Porter, and Sherry Putra (Natt); and great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Beckett, Alessandra, and a baby boy expected in September. His legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched.

He is predeceased by his parents, Myron and Olive Barnes, and his brother, Blair Barnes.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 19, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church Hendersonville with Rev. Jeff Lake officiating, where family and friends can gather to honor and remember Richard's remarkable life.
