Robert “Bruce” Sims, 73, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 24, 2025 surrounded by his cherished family at their home in Portland, TN. With determination and strength, Bruce fought a courageous 11 month battle with inoperable brain cancer.
Bruce was born Dec. 22, 1951 in Danville, KY to the late Robert Brown Sims and Hilda Robinson Sims. They instilled his strong work ethic, love of the lord, family, and nature. In turn, these values have continued on to his two sons.
After attending Eastern Kentucky University, he began working with AT&T and had 38 years of service as a Network Manager. When he retired, he was able to become an even more avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt deer and turkey.
Bruce was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Stephen. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deborah Sims of Portland, TN, his children Robert Blair Sims (Erin) of Cottontown, TN, Jonathan Sims (Claire) of Nashville, TN, and his two grandchildren Emilyann Sims and Robert Braxton Sims.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and family man. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, keen sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him, especially his grandchildren of whom he was immensely proud of.
