Ronald “Ron” Bates, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2026. His journey with cancer was courageous, and he entered eternal rest and healing after a brave battle. Ron’s legacy is one of warmth, faith, family, and a profound love for the simple joys of nature.
Born on February 6, 1954, in Fort Riley, Kansas, Ron spent most of his life in Oklahoma. He built a loving home and raised his family there before spending his final two years in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Ron had a calming presence that instantly brought peace to any room. Soft-spoken and deeply kind, he listened patiently and offered wise counsel to family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron found immense peace in nature. Whether it was the quiet stillness of an early morning hunt or the joy of a sunny afternoon fishing, he cherished these moments with others. Ron took great pleasure in teaching and guiding those around him, including his years as a dedicated Boy Scout leader. His love for nature remained a constant source of joy throughout his life. In his final days, he spent hours each day quietly observing the world outside, watching birds, squirrels, and deer visit his yard. It was a beautiful reflection of his patient heart and appreciation for God’s creations.
Above all, Ron’s heart belonged to his family. He shared a wonderful, love-filled marriage of 52 years with his beloved wife, Velma, who passed away on August 29th and is now reunited with him in peace.
Ron’s love lives on through his family including two daughters, Crystal (Jason) Parizek and Angela (Trey) Hardy, six grandchildren, as well as the many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know his warmth and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mavis Bates.
A joint memorial service will be held to celebrate the lives of both Ronald and Velma Bates.
