Sue Gilliam

Sue Lancaster Gilliam, age 85 of Gallatin, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on May 20, 2025. Sue was born on April 1, 1940 in Gallatin, Tennessee to the late John E. Lancaster and the late Annis E. Crowder Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James H. "Hack" Gilliam, Jr.

Sue is survived by her children, Jayne Gilliam Coleman (Andy) and James H. “Jim” Gilliam, III (Cindy). Affectionately known as Nana Sue, she was a caring grandmother to Andrew Coleman (Kaitlyn), Kathryn Coleman Russell (Kylar), Courtney Gilliam Mitchell (Jaylen), Molly Gilliam; and a wonderful great-grandmother to Remington Kate Coleman; her brother, Stephen Lancaster (Jackie); niece, Shelley Swinehart (Matt); and nephew, John "Chris" Lancaster (Shannon).

A lifelong resident of Gallatin, Sue was a longtime member of Gallatin Church of Christ on East Main Street. She served her church for many years by providing flowers for Sunday morning services, she also served on the decorating and library committees. After graduating from Gallatin High School, at age 17 Sue began an almost 50 year career in banking starting at Sumner County Bank and Trust which later became First Tennessee where she retired from in 2005.

Sue will be laid to rest at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Crestview Memory Gardens. Visitation will follow the Graveside Service from 1:00  - 3:00 P.M. A Celebration of Sue's Life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. from Bush's Chapel Church of Christ with Bro. Julius Hovan officiating.
