Thomas Clinton Dorris, age 73, of Westmoreland, TN passed away July 17, 2026 at home surrounded by family. Born September 7, 1952, Tom was the son of the late Homer Clinton Dorris and Edith Louise Morris.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he honorably served for 3 years as an expert marksman and combat engineer in the Vietnam War. He spent his remaining career as a master machinist and tool and die maker. Tom enjoyed playing his guitar with friends, family, and his beloved canine companion, Sunshine.

Tom is survived by his two daughters, Heather Dorris and Jennifer (Stephen) Eden of Westmoreland, TN; his son, Jason (Billie) Dorris of Cookeville, TN; 7 grandchildren, Jevon (Maeghan) Rickman, Angel (Trevor) Houdeshell, Camella Eden, Amara Locke, Jemma Eden, Claramae Dorris, and Glenna Dorris; 3 great-grandchildren, Kolsen Houdeshell, Kaibrienne Houdeshell, and Risen Jae Rickman; one brother, John Anthony (Debbie) Dorris of Westmoreland, TN; longtime friend, Ron Smith.

He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and close friends who will cherish his memory.

Special thanks to the Gentiva Hospice team, Westin, Allie, and Brittany, who provided Tom with the utmost care and respect during his last days.

Tom will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1515 Pleasant Grove Road, Westmoreland, TN 37186 at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 8th, 2026. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow the graveside service at the Pleasant Grove Community Center, 2144 Pleasant Grove Road, Westmoreland, TN 37186. All are welcome.
