Thomas A. Germer , Gallatin, TN, passed away on 5/26/25 at American House Memory Care. 

Tom was born in Norfolk, VA, October 24, 1945 to the late Henry and Nellie Germer.


Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years Shirley (Whipple)Germer, a son Tony (Pam), daughter Lara, 5 grandchildren, Corey Germer, Gallatin TN, Helena Dion (Brandon), Hendersonville, TN, Kaitlyn Germer, Jacksonville FL, Mia Germer, Panama City Beach, FL, and Taylor Stevens, Tucson Az. 10 great grandchildren (Ryder, Paisleigh, Paul, Rory, Ryan, Braelyn, Ryan, Delilah, Wyatt and Finley), 2 brothers, Chuck Germer (Erma, deceased) Pacifica, CA, Hank Germer(Glenda) Bremerton, WA, Brothers in law Bob Whipple (Crystal) ,Gary Whipple (Penny), Keith Whipple(Linda-deceased), Sisters in law Marlene Whipple, Marcene Rachael, many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death, sister Mernel Novak, mother and father in law Clarence and Hilda Whipple, brothers in law, Pete Whipple, Bruce Whipple and Ronald Whipple.

Tom was a 27 year veteran of the Navy Seabees, he spent 3 tours of duty in Vietnam, also was deployed to Okinawa, Guam, Diego Garcia, Scotland, and Spain. He retired as a Senior Chief, and was so very proud of his service to this country. He was an avid golfer (he and Shirley played many rounds together) he was a member of a model yachting club, he loved to sail his radio controlled EC12 sail boat in numerous regattas throughout the country. He wrote a column in the monthly sailing publication, pertaining to sailing rules for several years. He was a graduate of The University of New York with an AS degree and graduated from Jones College with a BS degree in data processing.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure.

A Memorial Service honoring Tom will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in White House, TN with Pastor Randy Sakach officiating.
