It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas “Tom” Frank Meares on August 20, 2026. Born in Carthage, Missouri, Thomas later moved to Robinson, Illinois, before permanently relocating to Hendersonville, Tennessee, in 1988.

Tom was a man who possessed a sharp wit and was jovial to the end. He loved to joke, possessed a wonderfully biting sense of humor, and was never afraid to share his opinion. His wit and distinctive personality brought laughter and memorable moments to those who knew and loved him.

He found great joy in the things he loved: cheering for the Chicago Cubs watching British mystery series, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Amelia and Teddy. He was a second parent to countless kids that found a safe space in his home while his son was in high school and college. He adored animals, and they universally adored him back. It should be noted that he was a pretty good Canasta player.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Nadine Meares, and his beloved wife, Pamela Sue Meares, whose loss was deeply felt since her passing in 2017.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Jenny); his grandchildren, Amelia and Teddy Meares; and his beloved cat, Aia.
