Van White, 72, of Hendersonville, TN, passed into heaven Friday, August 22, 2025, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. He was a wonderful husband, father, Pop, friend and Christian.
Van was born in Hayti, MO, to Lavanda and Ann White. He graduated from Caruthersville High School in 1971, where he was a star athlete and Student Body President. In college he attended Mississippi State and Southeast Missouri State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. Van married his wife, Mary, in 1976. Van and Mary lived in Cape Girardeau, MO, many years where Van was employed by Southwestern Bell. In 2021 Van and Mary relocated to Hendersonville. Their son, Jordan and grandchildren Brady and Charlotte, were the delight of his life. Van loved attending Jordan’s sports activities, traveling, boating on Kentucky Lake and hanging out with his many friends and relatives. Van loved the Lord Jesus and attended CrossPoint Church Hendersonville and formerly LaCroix Church in Cape.
Loving survivors are his wife of 49 years Mary, son Jordan and daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandchildren Brady and Charlotte all of Hendersonville; his mother Ann White, brother Drew and wife Robin, nephew Jacob White of Cape Girardeau and niece Chelsea White of St. Louis. Also surviving are numerous cousins and aunt, Mary Lynn Robertson of Memphis, to whom he was very close. He will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Lavanda White, and beloved pets Budda and Beau.
A celebration of Van’s life will be held Wednesday, August 27, at Sumner Funeral and Cremation Lakeside in Hendersonville. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:30 with services at 1:30. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the CrossPoint Hendersonville building fund or charity of your choice.
