Listen to Obituary

Virginia “Ginger” (Waggoner) Turner, born December 10, 1932, peacefully stepped from this life into the awaiting arms of Jesus on January 29th, 2026.

Ginger was a remarkable Tennessean whose life reflected dedication, leadership, and service to others. Born in Waverly, Tennessee, Ginger embodied the true spirit of public service. She moved to Nashville in 1944, where she attended David Lipscomb High School and later David Lipscomb College.

She worked together with her late husband, Charlie, beginning humbly with a trash collection business, then increasingly higher profile projects, including home building, commercial real estate development and ownership, and numerous small business ventures (motel, musical instruments, boat store, marinas). The Turners were widely known for their hospitality and for opening their homes, Oakwood and Treemont, for hosting both friends and strangers alike and in support of numerous non-profits. She served as Chairman and President of Turner Land Development Corporation, Managing Partner of Charles Turner Family LP, and was former owner of Hermitage Steak House.

She was deeply rooted in many charities and organizations, including Nashville/Middle Tennessee Women's Council of Home Builders Association, Friends of Hurting Children (now a part of Agape).

Long-time member of Hermitage Church of Christ and now Madison Church of Christ.

A Celebration of Life, conducted by Rusty Corley, Michael Ross, Lunden Johnson, and Steve Smith, will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2026 in the Sanctuary of Madison Church of Christ, Madison, TN 37115.

The family will be receiving friends at the Chapel of Madison Church of Christ from 3 PM - 6 PM prior to the service. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ulreca Waggoner, husband, Charles H. Turner, and daughter Lori Turner Provencher. She is survived by her daughter: Traci (Anthony) Ardovino, grandchildren: Chance (Ashlee) Minchey, Lacie Johnson, Lunden (Lindsey) Johnson, and great grandchildren: Ryder Ballou and River Ann Minchey, Breklyn, Tynleigh, and Lake Johnson.

In Lieu of flowers the family is asking for all donations to go directly to one of Gingers organizations she was deeply rooted in:
